Artist Statement

For this module we learnt how to write an artist statement. We started off writing a short one and building it up.
For this we did a elevator pitch.

These were my artist statements that I progressed over the time we had.

"Siobhan Sweeney is a photographer based in Manchester who's work explores and focuses on Body Image and the Media."

"Siobhan Sweeney is a photographer based in Manchester who's work explores and focuses on Body Image and the Media. Siobhan's Most recent project focuses on how the Media influences us on what we think we should look like and how we change ourselves and our bodies to conform to society."

This ended up being my final Artist Statement!

"Siobhan Sweeney is a photographer based in Manchester who's work explores and focuses on body image and the media. Siobhan's most recent project focuses on how the media influences us on what people think they should look like and how they change themselves and their bodies to conform to society. In 2011 Siobhan started her degree at Salford University. Photography is something she has always had an interest in and is something she really started to become serious about whist studying the subject at college. Her recent two projects that she is working on are about body image.
Her first of the two projects shows how media, mostly magazines edit images they use and how it can change the way people can look and change there appearance completely so they no longer look like themselves and has shown this through a series of edited images that show the change that can be made through using editing software.
The second of her two current projects is a series based on how we change our bodies to conform to society and for ourselves using drastic measures such as surgery, in this series she follows someones journey who's decided to take these measures.
This subject of body image is something Siobhan has always had an interest in and will have projects in the future that are based around these subjects and will more than likely continue to progress with her current projects."
